Just real quick I wanted to talk about the blossoming relationship that is Syd & Dean. Sure I could have put this in the big update but I though this deserved special recognition :)
So, just within the last few weeks Dean & Syd's relationship as brother and sister has really taken off! Generally speaking they have aways got along but recently they have finally started playing together. They will go into Syd's room and tend to her dolls and feed them and put them to sleep or go to Dean's room or the play room and construct lego skyscrapers...they have been attempted a few games of baseball.
It's so awesome to see this bond actually developing. It makes me think of what the future will be like...they both enjoy being with and playing with their friends but a brother or sister is truly a friend for life. Like any other relationship there will always be ups and down but in the end I hope that with Nick and my guidance they will grow up to have the kind of relationship that they will both really cherish and not take for granted. I really want then to be able to look back at all the good times together and hold a special place in their lives for each other. I know the relationship dynamic will change as Ry gets bigger and interacts with them more but for now its so cute to see them finally appreciate one another.
I think Syd put it best when she said...."Dean's my best fend"

Life's Updates
It's been way too long since our last post. A lot has happened/changed in the last three or so months. Let's see where to begin....well we finally moved. The new and much larger space has been good. The kids have space to run around (inside & out), daddy and mommy have a lot more to clean, we have been entertaining, more than anything just trying to get into a good routine and enjoy this time as a family together.
In general we have had a pretty hectic schedule lately. Here is our currently weekly routine...
Mondays - Nothing scheduled (Thank goodness!)
Tuesdays - Dean Speech Therapy ~10-11
Wednesday - Syd's Art Class ~ 9:30-10:30
Thursday - Dean Behavior Therapy ~ 9:30-10:30
Friday - Sydney Gymnastics ~ 9:30-10:30
Needless to say we have been pretty busy. Granted a few of these classes will be done in a few weeks time...at the moment it is go go go and all worth it. Since Dean has started his various therapy class he has shown some really good improvement. He still has a long way to go, but just to see his progression in the last two months is so awesome. It's amazing how quickly the brain absorbs these new skills and Dean is able to show an improvement. He went from only communicating with grunting and point (and a lot of crying) to now using several signs. He still has to be prompted for many of them but there are some he uses completely spontaneously...not always in the proper context but that's OK. Just the fact that he refused to use signs before and now regularly uses 3-4 has helped greatly. He currently uses....more, please, want, help, as well as an occasional thank you. Along with all that as well he has had a MAJOR growth spurt....he looks like quite the little man now-a-days....so handsome at that...with a personality to boot! :)
Now onto Syd, she too is growing like a weed! So tall and skinny. She's been growing her hair out for about a year now...she says's she wants it to be like "Tangled" and refuses to let us cut it, not even a trim which it desperately needs! Along with that she is an awesome big sister. A first born child for sure, she is very protective of both her brothers and likes to try to tell dean what to do (not that he listens too often, but she tries). She is loving her art class and looks forward to it every week. Several months ago she approached us about wanting to go to school!?!?!?!? We were kind of taken back when she actually ASKED to go to school...we just put it off at first but the request still continue to come so until we can figure out how we can make that happen we are trying to fill her time with other activities...speaking of which her progress in her gymnastics class has also been cool to see. She took one class last year but this year we enrolled her again and to see her progress from her first class to last class was astonishing. She is turning into such a beautiful independent young lady.
Well that leaves us with Ryan....oh that child! Been driving us a little crazy lately but I guess it comes with the territory. He is still a cutie-pie but when you combine is new level of mobility, his overly nosey personality and teething....he has turned into a bit of a handful. We have been taking it in stride but the sleep deprivation is getting to us and we hope that he goes back to sleeping through the night soon! Other than that though the little man has turned into quite a mobile child. He is now (and has been for about a month and a half now) a very seasoned roller...he can get just about anywhere he wants and this point...and manages to get into anything he can. He has scoots and pivots on his belly so all directions are fair game...he even manages to make it down the little step that we have from the playroom to the living room. Crawling is not very far in the horizon either, for the last week or so he can now get on all fours all by himself. You can see that he is desperately attempting to crawl (will lunge forward or stick out one leg behind him as if to start crawling) but has not just yet figured it out. Soon though!
Well I'm tired and that's all I can manage to document at this time but we promise not to let so much time pass. I made the mistake of only "mentally documenting" before and needless to say with three little ones those dates and events are long forgot...so I want to make sure to have a written record and not let anymore important things be forgotten. Till then....

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling
So TODAY was the day....Ryan rolled for the first time!!!
For the last week or two he has managed to make it onto his side and you can tell that he desperately wanted to roll [and just be mobile in general] and today he was finally able to completely roll onto his belly from his back.
So far Ryan is just a mellow baby...an easy baby...almost too easy....but has he gains more mobility I think he is going to be one of those kids that is into everything. So far we have yet to have one of those kids...I think Ryan is going to break that streak though. He is already so aware of his environment and you can just tell he almost feels trapped in his own body and just wants to be able to explore. Soon enough though...until then though we are glad that he can't and will enjoy it while we can!

Things Are A'Changin
So with are most recent family edition our current living quarters are becoming more and more cramped by the day.
Between two kids in crib, one (that should be) in a twin sized bed, one that likes trains, one that likes barbies [and coloring, animals, singing, horses and everything else under the sun], and one that doesn't even have his own toys yet....yeah space is becoming very limited around here.
So today marks T-Minus 14 days till we move into our new (much larger!) living spaces. The kids are going to be over-the-moon with all the extra space and Mom & Dad are excited just as much. I am sure we will all miss our little apartment that we have called home for the last 1 1/2 years but its time to move onwards and upwards....here to all the new memories we will make...

...Three Months
Where does the time go?
It's really hard to believe that three months ago today our little "Booger/Boogie" Ryan was born. I wouldn't say that it feels like just the other day but it definitely does not feel like three months ago!
Our
But with that being said [after going off on a small tangent]...going back to Ryan. He is such a sweet, lovable and mild-mannered child. His smiles just make your heart melt. Listening to him talk and watching him just take in everything around him is just so amazing to witness. Children are truly a blessing from Jehovah. So on that note...this post is dedicated to Ryan and how much we love our little man and cant imagine our lives without him. WE LOVE YOU RYAN!
And before I forget here are his current stats...
Birth Weight: 9lbs. 7oz. Current Weight: ~13lbs
Birth Length: 20 inches Current Length: ~24 inches
Miscellaneous Ryan Trivia...
- Ryan's middle name is James, which is also Nick's middle name
- Ryan started sleeping through the night at 2 months 1 week old!
- He is determined to suck his thumb like his big brother Dean...he is close to getting it but not quite yet
And of course this post would not be complete without a few pictures...Enjoy!
This picture was taken just this morning. He is such a happy and easy going baby :)
Don't you just want to pinch those cheeks?!?!?!?
Never in a millions years did we think we would end up with a kid with blue eyes!

Big Bear Twenty-Eleven - A Sneak Peak!
So last year we were fortunate to be able to take a Thompson/Keane Family trip up to Big Bear....it went so well that we decided to make this year the 2nd (hopefully) Annual Thompson/Keane Family Trip. Sure it can be crazy with five adults and SIX kids running around one house for a whole week but the scenery, good food and time together is well worth it!
Ever since we told Syd that we were going to the snow she has been obsessing about making a snowman...so of course as soon as she saw the first sign of snow while we were making our way up the mountain she felt it necessary to ask us [every 5 minutes!] to pull over so that she could make a snowman. We had already been on the road though longer than we should have been so we told her she was going to have to wait till we got to our cabin and she could make a snowman there...being the clever girl she is though she told us we needed to go faster! By the time we got settled in and unpacked it was a little too cold and too dark to be able to make her snowman so she did have to wait just one more day but she did FINALLY get her snowman...and boy was she proud if it :)
So we left Monday early afternoon and finally made it to our final destination, our cabin a.k.a. "Once Upon A Pine", right around 2 pm. Lucky for us Big Bear just had about two feet of snow dumped on it making everything beautiful...and cold! Here are a few pics from ride up...
Since then the kids have been able to go sledding a few times, play out in the front yard, play table hockey, go in the jacuzzi and much much more. Right now all the "Big Kids" (Nick, David, Jen, Micah & Dillan) are out hitting the slopes and enjoying the beautiful crisp sunny day out on the mountain. We still have a few days to go and many more pictures to take and we will make sure to post the full album as soon as we have it but for now we will leave you with this last few pics to keep you wanting more ;)
Till then...much love! The Thompson

It's The Small Things In Life
So I know we said the next post would be about the last three years of our lives but that will have to wait still till the next post. Like everything in our life it will get postponed just a little longer :)
I really wanted to share this though...
For the last week or so Ryan has been on the verge of actually laughing for the first time. He has been cooing, gooing and all that other cute baby stuff for awhile now but today was the day....and it was awesome....Ryan laughed for the first time. Both Mommy and Daddy got to be there to witness it too. I wish we could have gotten it on camera but the boy is camera shy...so no video just yet but hopefully in the near future we will be able to and can share it. So that's it for now. Till next time...

And so it begins........
Wow!
So, we're finally going to start "blogging" about our kids. There has been nothing more rewarding for us than raising our children. So many people have told us that if you do not record or keep track of your kids events you will regret it. As time goes on we realize that more and more. There are so many funny things our kids have done in the last 3 years and we are slowly forgetting them. Not anymore. We hope that this will help us document events in our kids lives and look back at this.
Most everything in this blog will be about our 3 kids. Here is the basic rundown of our family:
Mom and Dad
Sydney is 3.5
Dean is 2
Ryan is 2.5 months.
Our next blog will have a little bit of what has happened the last 3 years.
